This month, our employees are participating in PRIDE parades and celebrations across several communities, including Portland, Seattle and Salt Lake City. Many of these employees are marching under the banner of our regional health plans and participating through our PRIDE LGBTQ Employee Resource Group (PRIDE ERG), which is dedicated to broadening community awareness and acceptance, creating open lines of communication, increasing understanding and emotional support, and fostering camaraderie among employees.

“Marching in the parade is a fun and meaningful way to spend part of the day, showing that our company stands behind diversity and inclusion,” said Chip Terhune, Vice President of Business Strategy and executive sponsor of Cambia’s PRIDE ERG.

PRIDE ERG co-chair David Weir recalls the experience from 2016.  “It was a powerful expression of unity around diversity and acceptance. This year will be no different. We hope people will join us to be loud and proud about our support of diversity and the LGBTQ community.”

Cambia’s participation in PRIDE events is just one example of our commitment to diversity and inclusion throughout the year. One of Cambia’s core values is collaboration; promoting diverse voices, experiences and perspectives in order to achieve more together. As a consumer-focused organization that serves diverse members and communities, we work to ensure that our workforce is representative of the people we serve across our family of companies.

In December 2016, Cambia achieved a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2017 Corporate Equality Index, a national benchmarking survey that scores organizations on their commitment to workplace equality for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

Lisamarie Swan, a PRIDE ERG member, shared, “Cambia has succeeded at being a safe, welcoming place of employment for a diverse group of individuals. I am proud of them and of my place here!”

Wherever you may be this month, please join us in participating in PRIDE to help show the strength of diversity in our communities.
