Employee Wellness Plans Improve Health and Wellbeing

August 4, 2016

Obesity is one of the biggest drivers of preventable chronic diseases and health care costs in the U.S. More than 68 percent of adults are considered overweight or obese and more than 1 in 20 have extreme obesity. On average, those suffering from obesity spend nearly 42 percent more on medical care.

Employee wellness programs encourage and can dramatically improve health and wellbeing. When people feel better, they are more engaged, motivated and productive at home and at work.

One of the best ways to do so is reducing sedentary time and promoting an active lifestyle. In line with this commitment, our health plans have partnered with Seattle Children’s, and Run for Children’s Guild, to sponsor the Charity Run & Walk taking place on Saturday, Aug. 20, which benefits uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s. This not only promotes families to get out and get involved in a wonderful event for a wonderful cause, but also is a great outlet to run, walk, or dash!
