Accurate, efficient and inexpensive COVID testing is essential to the recovery of American business, education, and overall economy. This summer Cambia announced a founding partnership to remove COVID testing barriers. This partnership is organized through the XPRIZE Foundation and other health care organizations as well as Google and Amazon.
Through the XPRIZE partnership, a call for innovators and startups was shared, and entrants worldwide submitted their applications to participate. 219 teams from 35 countries advanced to the semi-finalist round, sharing ideas including training rescue dogs to sniff individuals for COVID, breathalyzer tests, and more.
As judges continue to work with teams to determine the best innovations, Cambia’s Executive Medical Director and XPRIZE advisor Dr. Amy Khan interviewed with the Portland Business Journal to share her perspectives on the importance of this competition, and what this means for combatting COVID.
